Service Learning Education
As part of service learning education, the regional AHECs arrange with your host community the opportunity to present a health-related talk or serve the community’s health needs in some way. At orientation your regional AHEC can offer specific information on the organization which has asked you to participate.
Course objective for this assignment:
- Understand the provider’s link to the community and the opportunities that providers have to influence the health of their communities outside the office walls.
- Perform one health-related or educational activity in the community during the four- week clerkship.
- If the community service involves students or schools, provide information about health professions to them.
Complete the Community Service Learning Summary form and return it to our office at the end of the clerkship.
