Model AHEC Grant
Model AHEC funding can be utilized to support pipeline activities, field placement activities for health professional students and continuing education for health professionals. In Colorado, the reformation of health professions education coupled with the rapid growth of the health professional training programs within the state to meet the healthcare professional shortages has amplified the need for the Colorado AHEC System to better recruit, prepare, support and retain community-based preceptors, strengthen the student-community relationships and support a greater number of student clinical learning experiences in rural and underserved communities. The goals of the Model AHEC grant are: 1) build and strengthen the quantity and quality of the Colorado clinical learning and preceptor network for health professions students; and 2) Enhance the clinical rotation experience by strengthening the student-community relationships across the State.
